BizTip – 3 Tips For Zoom Audiences

Zoom is brilliant in many ways, and I have been using it with clients for around four years now.

With even more Zoom webinars and events appearing, here are 3 tips to consider, from a non-tech side:

1. Tell the audience if you are recording it, and why

Your audience can then choose whether they share their screen, their questions, experiences, and their views. Simply put, some are more private than others.

Whilst most will anticipate that any recording will be available for a replay, including for those that missed it. They may not anticipate it being shared more widely, for example on YouTube/LinkedIn.

Consider if recording is useful, if the conversations could be more sensitive, or you want them to share more fully.

Let your audience know in advance what your plans are. They can then plan and react accordingly.

2. Get closer

It is useful to get closer (but not too close(!)) to the screen, both for sound (if you don’t have a microphone) and so that people can see more of you. It brings you into the room and gives an impression of greater confidence.

3. Consider your backdrop.

Let it reflect your brand. No lurking laundry.

It can help to take a photo of your room. We often notice more in a photo, since we become accustomed to looking at our space through our eyes (also useful for when you are selling your house).

Use a virtual background if necessary.

Enjoy and have fun with Zoom.

p.s. Switch off Alexa/Siri (a story for another day!).
