It is not always easy for those who have experienced coaching programmes, to clearly explain how the process worked, or how it differs from training.
The benefits and outcomes are easier for them to share.
However, to help you better understand coaching for leaders, here is a useful case study.
I worked with a senior manager who was receiving negative feedback on his ability to give feedback(!) and who was working long hours.
Training on time-management and appraisals had little effect, until through our work, he realised for the first time he was a ‘perfectionist’.
This ‘perfectionism’ was having a detrimental impact on his relationships with others, the hours he was working, his own stress levels and much more!
After dealing with the mindset work, we put into place strategies and tools for him to use successfully in all areas of his work, and naturally this also had a positive effect in his personal life too.
